RITUAL SKIN TREATMENT
BY SAMANTHA SCOTT
When I decided to try and create my own skin care product, there were certain goals that I knew that I wanted to meet... I knew that I wanted to create an intelligently-designed product, made from only the best ingredients. I wanted it to be something luxurious- something that is not only good for you but also feels good on you! Above all, I knew that I wanted my product to be a product with a purpose. I wanted to try and figure out a 'one-stop shop' of aftercare: a lotion that is not only appropriate for use over a fully-healed tattoo, but one filled with healing properties and a gentle enough formula to be used from day one.
Indulge your entire body with RITUAL WHIPPED SKIN TREATMENTS from Crooked Tree Gallery. This vitamin-rich and positively decadent lotion is buttery smooth and will begin to melt upon contact with your body for maximum hydration. It penetrates deeply and immediately gets to work revitalizing your thirsty skin, leaving behind a soft protective layer for long-lasting nourishment.
RITUAL was developed with the purpose of hopefully being able to streamline and simplify the healing process after acquiring a new tattoo. This lotion is made from only a handful of ingredients- nothing artificial and no hidden chemicals. Each ingredient was carefully and specifically chosen for it's calming and restorative properties. It is comprised of a base of HIGH QUALITY NATURAL BUTTERS:
MANGO BUTTER is soothing, moisturizing, and rich in fatty acids. It is high in antioxidants and is full of Vitamins A, C, and E. KOKUM BUTTER helps heal and revitalize skin cells, promoting the regeneration of healthy skin without clogging pores. SHEA BUTTER is naturally rich in Vitamins A, E, and F, and fatty acids. It reduces inflammation and aids in the skin's natural collagen production to make skin soft and strong. JOJOBA OIL is structurally and chemically very similar to the human sebum, and contains natural antibacterial properties while also retaining non-toxic, non-comedogenic, and non-allergic properties.
RITUAL also utilizes a blend of PURE THERAPEUTIC-GRADE ESSENTIAL OILS to not only give the lotion it's signature scent but to add to it's already-numerous benefits:
HELICHRYSUM is anti-microbial, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory, which makes it perfect for anything on your skin that could possibly become infected. FRANKINCENSE helps wounds heal faster and protects them from infection. LAVENDER relieves pain, helps with blood circulation, and is generally soothing.
If you are using RITUAL for the first time, it is recommended that you start with just about a pea-sized amount on the tip of your finger, and then rub it in slowly to let it fully absorb into your skin. Unlike other lotions and ointments which might leave your skin feeling clogged and greasy, RITUAL will leave behind only a barely-there shine which will help protect your skin while the long-lasting nourishment takes place. If you find your skin asking for more after that, feel free to dig in! However, if you use too much at once you will begin to feel a little oily- don't worry, it will eventually soak in and your skin will definitely thank you for the extra treat!
RITUAL is appropriate for use on your whole body, from head to toe: apply it to your face after nightly cleansing, or on your legs after shaving. But RITUAL is not just for ladies! It can be used on anybody's areas that might need a little extra pampering, such as roughened elbows, hands, or feet. And, of course, you can use RITUAL to moisturize and brighten up tattoos of any age, or throughout the healing process for each new tattoo you add to your collection.
A NEW AFTERCARE
There has always been a whole laundry-list of instructions on how to take care of a new tattoo and what products you should and should not use during the healing process. Those tried and true methods have never steered me wrong, but when I was developing RITUAL, I knew that there had to be an easier way.
Using RITUAL as a tattoo aftercare is as easy as 1-2-3.
1. Begin by washing your tattoo with unscented soap and cool water. Pat your tattoo completely dry with a disposable paper towel.
2. With clean and completely dry hands, dole out a tiny amount of product and gently rub it into your tattoo and the surrounding skin. A little bit will go a long way! NOTE: A larger tattooed area will, of course, require a larger amount, but be careful not to use too much during these first few days!
3. That's it!
Repeat this three-step process as needed as you heal your new tattoo- recommended is approximately 3-4 times a day during the first few days when it's fresh and tender. Once your tattoo begins to flake and peel, feel free to use as much as you want!
The labels for RITUAL were designed and printed by local graphic designer and letterpress printer Cassaundra Laine of MYSTIC HAND LETTERPRESS AND DESIGN, also located here in Downtown Evansville. She specializes in branding & design, custom fine printing, and poster & paper goods. You can find more of her artwork on her Facebook, Instagram, and her website www.mystichandpress.com.
RITUAL WHIPPED SKIN TREATMENT is, of course, intended for external use only- be sure to keep it away from your eyes and mouth!
This product contains absolutely nothing artificial and no preservatives, so please keep in mind that this product will not keep forever. While the ingredients are known to be quite stable, it is recommended that you use your lotion within approximately 8-9 months of it's creation (date noted on the bottom of your jar). If used beyond it's recommended shelf-life, the lotion may possibly begin to develop an 'old oil' smell. It will still be perfectly usable; it just may not smell so great anymore. Mold could only occur if water is accidentally introduced into the product container during use, so be sure to use clean, dry hands during application, and store your lotion in a cool, dry place.
This product may liquefy in hot environments (over 80F). Liquefaction will not harm your lotion in any way, and simply placing it in the fridge overnight will bring it back to it's intended texture. Please keep in mind that shipping to or through hot climates during the summer months may result in receiving a liquefied product.
Due to the nature of the natural butters used in this lotion, and the fact that there is no added artificial stabilizers, your lotion may develop a slight grittiness. This grittiness in no way affects the natural healing properties of your lotion and will almost always dissolve shortly after contact with your warm skin. If your lotion becomes gritty, you can simply continue to use it as-is, or remelt and reset your lotion to bring it back to it's proper texture. This can be done by warming your lotion carefully in a hot water bath until it has completely melted and then placing it into the fridge for a night or two. You can minimize the chances of your product becoming gritty by avoiding temperature fluctuations and keeping your butter stored at or below room temperatures.
